Choice: The Movie

Choice is a short film that takes you on a journey through the wilderness of New Zealand in search of perfect waves. Along the way filmmaker Jean Pierre Guillotin explores the stunning scenery and landscapes that define New Zealand.

“This was my first short film,” explains photographer Jean Pierre. “It was a learning experience for me. All my previous work has been based in photography. I realised in the film industry it’s a different world, so there were many things to take into consideration throughout filming and in production.”

Jean Pierre wanted to do something new – something that could show a year of his work in a couple of minutes.

“I wanted to show some of the best breaks around the North Island in their best shape,” he smiles.

Jean Pierre, who lives in Auckland and works as a restaurant manager wasn’t able to achieve it without the help of Laurent Lopez and Fabien Fouquet.

“Laurent was in charge of editing and Fabien created all the soundtrack for the project,” Jean Pierre explains. “I also would like to thank all the local surfers that feature in the film including; Zen Wallis, Paul Moretti, Daniel Kereopa and Billy Stairmand. It’s been a pleasure to share some epic waves and moments with those legends.”
