Jack Tyro has been handed a wildcard entry into the 2023 Bells Beach Longboard Classic after winning the trials event at Bells Beach. This is stop number two on the World Longboard Tour … the big leagues.

Competition has been called on today at the inaugural Bioglan Bells Beach Longboard Classic presented by Rip Curl, with Bells Beach offering up bumpy surf in the two-to-three foot range.

“I don’t even have the words to express how happy I am about making it onto a WSL World Longboard Tour event,” Jack offers. “I want to thank everyone who helped me to achieve the start of this dream!”

Jack Tyro came up against Hawaii’s Kaniela Stewart and Kai Ellice-Flint, of Australia, in Heat 4, but was unable to latch onto a high-scoring wave, finishing third. The opening round was a non-elimination round and third places Jack in the opening heat of the elimination round, which will take place tomorrow, conditions permitting.

Jack will meet American surfer Tony Silvagni in that do or die heat. Go Jack!
